Male shot in west Birmingham, suspect in custody

One person is being treated at UAB Hospital and another is being questioned by police after a shooting this morning in west Birmingham.

Lt. Pete Williston said the victim, a male, was shot in the area of 900 1st Street West.

The victim was taken to UAB hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue for life threatening injuries, Williston said.

A suspect was taken into custody and has been transported to the Police Administration Building for further investigation.
