Suspect sought in possible abduction attempt of 9-year-old boy

Tuscaloosa police said they received information that a 9-year-old child was approached by a black male driving a small, white SUV, said Lt. Teena Richardson.

Authorities are trying to identify a man after he possibly tried to abduct a child in Tuscaloosa Thursday morning.

Tuscaloosa police said they received information that a 9-year-old child was approached by a black male driving a small, white SUV, said Lt. Teena Richardson. The child's mother was the one to notify police.

According to Richardson, the suspect demanded the child get into the vehicle so he could take him to school. The young boy ran home, and the suspect followed him. Once there, the boy's mother confronted the suspect.

The suspect, police said, "demanded to take the child to school and became enraged and started clapping his hands angrily, saying hhe loved kids and he was going to take him.'''

The boy's mother took the photo as the suspect drove away. Anyone who recognizes the suspect shown in the photo is asked to call the Tuscaloosa Police Department at 205-349-2121.
