Motorist crashes through brick wall at Chick-fil-A in Birmingham's Five Points South

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, along with Birmingham police, were dispatched at 7:46 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, to the Chick-fil-A on 20th Street South in Five Points South.

One person was hospitalized Saturday night after a vehicle crashed through a brick wall at a Southside restaurant, stopping just short of entering the business.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service, along with Birmingham police, were dispatched at 7:46 p.m. to the Chick-fil-A on 20th Street South in Five Points South. Police said the driver of a vehicle suffered a medical condition and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle smash a path through the brick wall outside of the restaurant just outside the glass front doors. The debris was strewn across the front entrance but no one inside the restaurant was harmed.

The driver was injured but the severity of those injuries wasn't immediately known. The restaurant remained open for business.
