19-year-old found stabbed to death in western Jefferson County home

A teen was found stabbed to death in a western Jefferson County home Thursday afternoon.

Jefferson County sheriff's deputies responded about 2:15 p.m. to a home in the 4200 block of Levine Avenue near Graysville after receiving information a 19-year-old was unresponsive and appeared to have been beaten.

Once on the scene, deputies found the victim suffering from several apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene, said Chief Deputy Randy Christian.

The homicide happened in Sayre Camp, an old mining community. Multiple family members were on the scene and said the teen had been killed during a robbery. They said he'd previously been threatened but didn't elaborate.

The investigation is ongoing. The victim's name has not yet been released.
