Man faces attempted murder charges in robbery turned officer-involved crash in Birmingham

Reontay Harley

Two men are charged with one of the men facing attempted murder charges in an early Thursday robbery turned officer-involved crash, Birmingham police said.

Reontay Harley, 26, is wanted on charges of first-degree robbery, attempting to elude and two counts of attempted murder.

The second suspect, 25-year-old Warderrius Twilley, is wanted on charges of first-degree robbery, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and attempting to elude.

Around 12:25 a.m. Thursday, North Precinct officers responded to #10 Ninth Avenue North to investigate a report of a vehicle robbery, police said. Officers later found the suspects driving the victim's vehicle in the 800 block of Fifth Street North, police said.

When officers tried to approach the vehicle, the suspect tried to flee by driving over the curb. Police said the suspect tried to run over an officer as he left the scene and intentionally struck two approaching patrol vehicles.

The suspects were taken into custody shortly after the crash, police said.

Harley is still being treated for his injuries in the hospital. Twilley was being transferred to the Jefferson County Jail Friday evening.

An officer was injured in the incident, but is expected to recover from his injuries.

Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
