Pedestrian killed in overnight Jefferson County hit-and-run

A man was killed in an overnight hit-and-run in eastern Jefferson County.

Jefferson County sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian said deputies were dispatched at 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Carson Road and 16th Terrace Circle N.W. Once on the scene, they found an adult male suffering critical injuries.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Christian said the vehicle that hit him had fled the scene.

The victim was not carrying identification and authorities don't yet know his identity. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team.
