Funeral arrangements set for fallen Mobile Police officer Justin Billa

Funeral arrangements for a police officer killed in the line of duty have been finalized by Mobile police and city officials Thursday.

Officer Justin Billa's funeral will take place on the morning of Feb. 27 at Cottage Hill Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Doors will open for public visitation at 8.30 a.m., according to a Mobile city press release.

An evening visitation will be held on Feb. 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Billa, who was killed while investigating a death, will be buried at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6100 Three Notch Road.

"A hobby of Officer Billa was police patch collecting," said the press release. "To honor his passion, the Mobile Police Department is asking for all visiting law enforcement agencies to bring a patch to the funeral so that they can be displayed to treasure the memory of Officer Billa."

Those unable to attend are welcome and encouraged to sign the memorial book for officer Billa at the Mobile Police Department headquarters.
