This summer, she moved the second location of Arepa Mia (first opened in 2014) from Decatur to Avondale Estates, where she has a patio, more parking, and new menu items. “Here in America, there’s so much Mexican food—even Cuban and Colombian—but somehow Venezuela has been missing,” she says. Now, customers can try two entrees—pabellón (shredded beef served with black beans, fried plantains, queso de año, and rice) and asado negro (beef roasted with red wine and served with rice and vegetables)—as well as an avocado and heart of palm salad dressed with olive oil and sweet corn juice.
