Early Wednesday morning, Donald Glover took to Twitter to set the record straight. “I wasn’t too busy to work on Deadpool,” he tweeted, referring to an animated series based on the smart-mouthed Marvel Comics character that he and his brother, Stephen Glover, were the showrunners of up until Saturday. FX, the network behind the show, announced in a press release that the brothers, the network, and Marvel were parting ways “due to creative differences,” according to Deadline. But after a few media outlets began speculating that Glover’s slammed schedule—which includes his hit FX series Atlanta, the upcoming Solo film, and the upcoming Lion King reboot, not to mention his latest Childish Gambino tour—was the reason for the cancellation, Glover tweeted a 15-page script titled “Deadpool: The Animated Series: Finale.”

The script has Deadpool travel to Kenya where he meets Zachariah, a man who has hired him to monitor Sudan, the last living male white rhino. In an attempt to save the white rhino species, Deadpool is instructed to follow Sudan around until the rhino breeds. (In real life, Sudan died in Kenya last week.) Deadpool spouts plenty of quips along the way.

“I don’t know why I’m here either,” Deadpool says to Sudan early in the journey. (Deadpool is known for breaking the fourth wall and being self-aware of the fact that he is a comic book character.) “I think the writer’s just mad. Or bored. I guess we’ll find out together.”

Deadpool then continues, as Sudan silently eats grass, “I’m not mad about this whole ‘cancelled’ thing. I actually think it’s a good thing. I mean is it even a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV? (hard sell) Other than the PRESIDENT!” He continues pondering to Sudan, asking “Do you think they cancelled the show . . . cause of racism?! Yeah, but all the writers were black. And the references were pretty black too. I heard they went over budget ordering Jamaican food at lunch at least once a week.”

“You’re right, Black Panther,” Deadpool quips before wondering if the show alienated white audiences. But that couldn’t be possible, he says, due to episodes on goat yoga and Taylor Swift. Then Deadpool speculates that maybe it was because of what he’d said about Marvel. “All I said was Marvel was trying to sell toys to seven year old boys and fifty year old pedophiles,” Deadpool tells Sudan. “That’s just funny. They’re cool. They get it.”

Finally, Deadpool says, “What do I want? I want to know why. I want to know the real story . . . It just feels like everyone wants something different, but no one wants to do anything different to get it. Doesn’t Marvel have enough feel-good minority shows everyone supports but doesn’t watch? I mean, I think our show woulda been funny. I just wanted a place to be honest. (tearing up) And I guess that place is Freeform.”

The script continues with Zachariah announcing himself as a poacher, betraying Deadpool, and the pair get in a shootout that ends with Deadpool shooting Zachariah directly between the eyes, killing him. Then Deadpool leaves with his new friend Sudan, who he turns into a coat.
