A number of calves are believed to have died in a large barn fire in Conwy county.

Firefighters were called to the blaze just after 19:30 GMT on Sunday and were still at the scene in Llanfair Talhaiarn, near Abergele, on Monday.

North Wales Fire Service said livestock, hay and straw were involved in the fire and the building had partially collapsed.

A man received a precautionary check from paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters helped save some of the animals and an investigation into the blaze has begun.
