Thousands of people turned out to watch as about 4,000 runners took part in the Swansea 10km race on Sunday.

Runners started in St Helen's Rugby and Cricket Ground and ran towards the Mumbles before heading back to the finish line.

There was also a 10k wheelchair race and a number of junior fun runs.

Councillor Robert Francis-Davies said about 8,000 supporters turned out to watch the "celebration of sporting culture".

Road closures in place in Brynmill Lane, Sketty Lane and Mumbles Road have now been lifted.

Mr Francies-Davies said the success of the 10k would be shared with the "rest of the UK and beyond" if Swansea is successful in its bid to be the UK's City of Culture in 2021.
