The 2019 Fremont County Fair is near and will offer a little something for everyone.
The annual county fair, which is free and lines up a variety of activities, runs from July 26 through Aug. 4
During the week, there will be a Junior Rodeo, a Ranch Rodeo, 4-H livestock shows and general exhibits, live entertainment, a style revue, homemade wine judging, open classes for exhibits by all citizens of Fremont County, Family Day and Celebrate Seniors Day, Cowboy Church, an outdoor movie, vendor booths, food, and more fun for the whole family.
The following is a lineup of events for the fair:
July 26 — Pathfinder Park. The Fremont County Fair opens with a Junior Rodeo, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Events will include Barrel Racing, Muttin’ Bustin’, Mini Bronc and Bull Riding, as well as a Calf Scramble for the younger cowpokes.
July 27 — Pathfinder Park. The fair officially opens with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The first day of the Fair features the Horse Show, featuring English Showmanship and Performance classes, which will be in the arena at Pathfinder Park beginning at 9 a.m.
Ranch Rodeo events will begin at 6 p.m. This is a Western States Sanctioned Rodeo to include Bronc Riding, Wild Cow Milking, Trailer Loading, Calf Branding and more.
July 28 — Pathfinder Park. The Horse Show continues. Western Showmanship and Performance classes begin at 9 a.m. 4-H Horse Gymkhana Events will begin at 6 p.m.
Throughout the Fair, several judging classes that will be of interest to the general public, which will include the Open Fair classes for Homemade Wines, Scrapbooking, Food Preservation, Quilting, Gardening, and Floriculture. The 4-H Building will be open to the public every day, beginning July 31, for viewing of the many and varied fair entries.
July 29 — Entering of projects and interview judging. 4-H and Open Fashion Revue will be at 6:30 p.m. at E-Free Church.
July 30 — Open Fair judging. Homemade Wine judging at The Abbey Winery at 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Must be 21.
July 31 — 4-H Building is Open to the public at 8 a.m. 4-H Dog Show begins at First Southern Baptist Church in Florence at 9 a.m.
Aug. 1 — Fremont County Fairgrounds. Dairy Day. Activities will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Events will include ice cream eating and stacking contests, along with other dairy activities. 4-H Dairy Goat and Dairy Cattle Judging will begin at 6 p.m. in the Show Arena. 4-H Rocket Launch will be at 6:30 p.m. at Pathfinder Park.
Aug. 2 — Small Animal Barn. Livestock judging classes will begin at 8 a.m. with 4-H Rabbit judging, followed by Rabbit Showmanship. 4-H Poultry Judging will begin at 1 p.m. followed by Poultry Showmanship. Livestock judging will continue through Aug. 3, with Market Goat, Market Swine, Market Sheep, and Market Beef judging.
At dusk, a free movie under the stars will be provided in the grandstands at the Fairgrounds with free popcorn and drinks. The movie and refreshments will be sponsored by Charter.
4-H Building. – Family Day & Celebrate Seniors Day. Special accommodations have been made for all Senior Citizens who enjoy attending the Fair, and numerous activities and entertainment have been planned especially for them. Their day will begin with a free breakfast from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for those over 65 sponsored by the Beta Zeta Sorority and Fremont County Fair Board. Breakfast will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Personally-guided tours of the Fairgrounds and the varied special activities will be provided to the seniors by 4-H Club members.
Family Day activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 2 p.m. Just for fun, a Pee-Wee Rabbit / Poultry Show, open to all children under 8 years of age, will be at 10 a.m. with registration opening at 9:30 a.m. Dress-A-Bunny / or Poultry, open to the public, will immediately follow the Pee-Wee Rabbit Show.
The day will be filled with special events for kids of all ages — the Agriculture Magician, stick horse rodeo, bounce houses, climbing wall, educational booths, and a variety of games and activities. The Watermelon Eating Contest will be at 2 p.m. in the Tent.
Open Gardening judging begins in the 4-H building at 1 p.m. The public is welcome to come and watch the judging.
At 9 a.m., 4-H Market and Breeding Sheep Judging begin in the Show Ring with Showmanship classes followed immediately by the market sheep classes.
4-H Market Swine Show begins in the Show Ring at 5 p.m. with Showmanship classes followed immediately by market swine classes. Colorado Country Music Association will be in the entertainment tent from 1 to 6 p.m.
Aug. 3 — Livestock Building Show Arena. 4-H Market and Breeding Goat Judging begins at 9 a.m. with Showmanship classes. Market and Breeding Sheep classes will follow.
4-H Breeding Beef and Market Beef shows will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Show Arena, beginning with the breeding beef classes followed by market beef classes thirty minutes after completion of breeding beef judging. Beef Showmanship follows.
Open Floriculture entries will be accepted from 9 a.m. to noon, with judging beginning at 1 p.m. Judging is open to the public.
Aug. 4 — Entertainment Tent. Cowboy Church will be at 7:30 a.m. The public is invited to join Fair participants in Sunday Worship services provided by the Christian Cowboys= Association.
Master Showmanship Competition, featuring Champion 4-H Showmen in seven livestock categories, will be in the Show Ring beginning at 9 a.m., followed by Reverse Showmanship, featuring parents of the 4-H Showmen.
Parade of Champions Award Ceremony will be at noon in the Entertainment Tent.
The Buyers’ Barbeque, hosted by the Market Livestock Sale Committee, will begin at 3 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent. 4-H Family of the Year and other special awards will be presented in the Show Ring beginning at 4 p.m. 4-H Market Livestock Sale in the Livestock Building Show Ring begins at 4:30 p.m.
