AS the weather gets inevitably colder and wetter a new beach bar is preparing to open in Chester to remind people of the summer sun.

Love Shack will open its doors on Saturday, September 29, offering cocktails, rum and beach-inspired food to the tune of 90s hip-hop and R&B.

Located on Cuppin Street, it is the first solo project of city resident Nathan Harrison, a well-known local face.

He said that after 15 years in the industry, including the last five at Kuckoo on Watergate Street, he felt it was time to branch out on his own.

Nathan, 33, said: “Having worked in the industry for some time and in various venues it has enabled me to learn a variety of skills.

“For me the last five years that I have spent working at Kuckoo are what has driven me to finally opening my own bar; the knowledge I have gained whilst there and the experience I’ve had over the years have moulded me into the person I am today.

“During my time at Kuckoo I have worked alongside some exceptional bartenders and met some even more exceptional people!”

The Love Shack menu will offer a selection of burgers with ingredients inspired by different beaches from all over the world.

This includes the Trenchtown burger inspired by Jamaica and the beaches of the Caribbean where Nathan has travelled on multiple occasions.

This burger offers a pulled jerk spiced chicken thigh coated in a homemade Caribbean hot sauce, all topped with blue cheese and the usual accompaniments.

Alongside the burgers, Love Shack will also focus on chicken wings, or Heihei wings as they would be called in Hawaii.

Nathan said this is where the bar gets a lot of its inspiration with Tiki being derived and influenced by the group of islands that make up Polynesia.

Besides cocktails and rum, customers will also be able to order more traditional drinks such as wine, spirits and beer. The venue will be open from 4pm until midnight, seven days a week.
