Today's Topeka forecast calls for high near 73

After seven straight days with high temperatures in the 90s, the National Weather Service forecasts today will bring Topeka a high near 73 with mostly cloudy skies and winds from the north at 5 to 10 mph.

The capital city recorded 0.12 inch of rain early today, according to the weather service.

Tonight's forecast calls for a low around 49, with mostly cloudy skies and winds from the northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

The forecast subsequently calls for:

• A high near 73 Saturday, with sunny skies and winds from the east at around 5 mph.

• A low around 52 Saturday night, with clear skies and winds initially coming from the east at around 5 mph before becoming calm.

• A high near 80 Sunday, with sunny skies and winds from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph.

• A low around 61 Sunday night, with partly cloudy skies.

• A high near 80 Monday, with mostly sunny skies and a 20 percent chance of rain after 1 p.m.

• A 40 percent chance of rain Monday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 62.

• A 40 percent chance of rain Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and a high near 74.

• A low around 52 Tuesday night, with partly cloudy skies.

• A high near 72 Wednesday, with sunny skies.

• A low around 54 Wednesday night, with mostly clear skies.

• A high near 71 Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and a 20 percent chance of rain.
