A Hartford man was arrested Friday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead earlier this month, police said.

Kayvon Cook, 24, was charged with evading responsibility with serious physical injury, reckless driving, operation with a suspended license and making a false statement. His bail was set at $100,000, police said.

Cook fled his car hit Chante Tucker as she walked near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Garden Street on the night of Sept. 5, police said. Tucker, 47, of Hartford, was found in the street with serious injuries and taken to a hospital, where she died the next day.

Officers found the Chevrolet Malibu Cook had been driving when he hit Tucker and traced the vehicle back to him, police said.

Cook, of Stonington Street, may face additional charges pending a finding by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine Tucker’s cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
