Flintshire County Council is urging ‘as many people as possible’ to give their views on a redrafted ‘Rights of Way’ improvement plan.

The draft plan sets out how the council intends to deliver improvements to the network over a ten year period.

Flintshire’s countryside has a total of 1,082km of Public Rights of Way made up of:

  • Footpaths – 955.2km;
  • Bridleways – 114.6km; and
  • Byways open to all traffic – 11.9km.

The revised draft Plan, with a new-style ‘Statement of Action’ and the full range of policies and procedures, is being shared with all ‘interested parties.’

The council wants to encourage as many people as possible to feedback their comments to assist in the delivery of new rights of way service, maintaining the network for the communities in Flintshire.

The documents can be viewed on the Flintshire Council website:

https://www.flintshire.gov.uk/en/Resident/Streetscene/Public-rights-of-way.aspx or you can request them by email.  To request information and to provide feedback, please e-mail publicrightsofway@flintshire.gov.uk.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene and Countryside, Councillor Carolyn Thomas, said:

“This is a highly valued service within the county.  The Rights of Way team enhances our access for all across Flintshire providing a valuable link to our beautiful countryside which shouldn’t be taken for granted.

This is a good opportunity for all members of our community to comment on this Improvement Plan regarding the modernisation and prioritisation of improvements to the network for greater countywide accessibility.”
