A55 – Snow caused a few issues in Flintshire earlier this morning

Wintery weather conditions have caused a few issues on the A55 this morning.

A Met Office yellow weather warning has been in place for snow across most of North Wales including Flintshire between 3am until 11am today.

Snow began to fall on higher ground during the early hours of this morning, it resulted in part of the A55 becoming impassable.

Traffic Wales issued a warning at earlier this morning saying: “A55 : Both directions : J28 Waen/Rhuallt to J38 Chester : Poor driving conditions : Due to Snow : #T

[A55 at Halkyn at 7.45am – traffic is running freely]

At 5am North Wales Police posted an update on social media saying:

“Pentre Halkyn, we are advised that lane 2 westbound is impassable due to snow. we are arranging for Snow plough to be deployed. Please seek alternative route to avoid this area.”

The road has since been cleared and traffic is running freely.

Today’s weather: Outbreaks of rain and possible sleet for a time this morning. Sunny spells and showers to follow, these possibly wintry. Becoming very windy.

Feeling cold.

Tonight will be cold with a mixture of clear spells and wintry showers. Remaining windy, although the winds should ease slightly.
