Kohima, Jan. 25 (EMN): The Angami Christian Revival Youth Association (ACRYA) began its golden jubilee celebration at D. Khel Ground (Seikhazou), Kohima village, on Jan. 25. The jubilee monolith was unveiled by chairman of Angami Christian Revival Council of Churches (ACRCC) Rev. Visielie Soliezuo at the ACRCC Mission Centre.
The Nagaland Christian Revival Church in 1962, which was formed in 1962, felt the need to ‘nurture young leaders to fellowship in the principles and teachings of Christian beliefs,’ which subsequently led to the formation ACRYA in 1969 at the Christian Revival Church, Kohima village. However, the association became official only in 2006 after lot of alterations in the nomenclature.
During the opening ceremony of the golden jubilee, the bell was ranged 50 times to mark the 50 years of the ACRYA’s existence. Rev. Vitsiepielie Nguzhü also unfurled the jubilee flag along with 50 other flags as part of the celebration.
Rev. Dr. Neikedozo Paphino, president, NCRC was the main speaker during the evening worship service and the jubilee souvenir was released by Rev. Guotsülie Sorhie.
Over 2000 delegates from across the Angami regions attended the first day of the golden jubilee celebration, according to the organisers.
The ACRYA had said at a press conference a few days ago that they were expecting over 5000 delegates to attend the event. The organisers also informed that a free city bus service would be provided from Kohima Local Ground to D. Khel Ground for delegates.
The three-day ACRYA’s 50th anniversary celebration will end on Jan. 27.
