The office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur has informed in an update that several people have been apprehended for various crimes in the last few weeks.
Extortion case
The Dimapur police, Anti Extortion Team (AET) has informed that it apprehended one person named Atoka Awomi (23) from Thilixu village, Dimapur on May 18 while collecting illegal money from Truck carrying sands located at Kiyeto Village area on behalf of NSCN (IM). INR 5050 cash was also recovered from his possession. In this connection a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
On the same day, the AET also apprehended one Selithre Sangtam (40), a resident of Diphupar ‘A’ Dimapur while extorting money from the business establishments at Notun Bosti Dimapur. A few slips, including extortion slip were recovered from him. A case has been registered vide Dimapur West PS against him.
The Dimapur police said that it detained two persons namely Davis Sumi (30) and Ato Sumi (29) on May 20 and seized one unregistered Motor Bike (Hero Honda Splendour) along with blank writing pad of GPRN ministry of Chaplee from their possession. In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
On May 27, the AET arrested two persons namely Sabdir Ahmed (31), a resident of Ghorapatti, Dimapur, and Zuhuto Yeptho (51), a resident of Sematilla, Dimapur for collecting illegal tax from two-wheelers carrying vegetables. INR 1360 was recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case has been registered in Dimapur East PS.
The AET said that it apprehended one Kalipo Awomi (27) from Phishumi village, who is presently residing in Burma Camp, Dimapur on May 28 while collecting illegal yearly vehicle tax from the pick-up truck drivers. Another person by the name Kelhousie, 45, (S.S. Leacy UT-1 NSCN- IM) was arrested on the same day for collecting tax from the butcher stalls at Fire Brigade Colony, Dimapur. An authorisation letter issued by Finance Secy. of GPRN/NSCN- IM was seized from his possession. Cases have been registered against the two with Dimapur East Police Station.
On June 7, the Dimapur police apprehended one Avika Kughalu Chophy (32), SS (Sectional Officer) NSCN-K Khango, and recovered extortion slip of GPRN Ministry of Chaplee NSCN/GPRN (K), INR 1800, a motor bike and a phone were seized from his possession. On the same day, one four persons namely Aboto Wotsa (18) and Lashika Chophy (19) from Burma Camp; Daniel (45), a resident of Lahorijan, Assam; and Kakito (22), a redident of Notun Bosti from New Field Check Gate area Dimapur for collecting illegal tax from the commercial truck drivers entering the state from Assam and recovered INR 75,000 from them. For both the incidents, cases have been filed at East Police Station, Dimapur.
Vehicle theft
The Dimapur police, Anti Vehicle Teft Squad (AVTS) intercepted one Hyundai Creta vehicle bearing registration No. AS-23P/1200, C/NO. MALC381CLFMO210414 & E/No. G4FGFU994908, at the Old Flyover Bridge, Burma Camp, Dimapur on May 25 and found out that its actual engine number was G4FGGU851916. In this connection, Thingom Sanjit Singh, driver of the vehicle was arrested, and a case has been registered with the Dimapur East PS.
Arms case
On June 3, the Dimapur police (SOT) arrested one Theophilas Seiminlal Singsong, from Ahathipong and presently residing in Chumoukedima Ward-09 and recovered one .32 Pistol (Colt Automatic), 7 (seven pt 32 rounds, one .38 revolver (Smith & Wesson), 6 (six) .38 rounds and one mobile phone from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at Chumoukedima Police Station for further investigation.
