Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): On receipt of numerous reports on illegal felling of trees in Kohima town without following the prescribed guidelines and procedures  and in violation of government’s act, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, has issue an order restricting such act in Kohima town.

In an order, the DC stated that such activities pose grave environmental hazard and risk natural disaster. He also cautioned that violators would be liable to penal consequences as per relevant section of law.

In a similar statement, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) too has prohibited illegal felling of trees without following the prescribed guidelines or procedures and in violation of government acts within its jurisdiction.

The KMC administrator cautioned that defaulters would be penalised as per relevant section of law.

Meanwhile, KMC in collaboration with Kohima traffic police will conduct one-day sensitisation programme for better management of parking and for smooth flow of traffic within Kohima municipality on May 31 at KMC office at 10 am.

KMC administrator, Kovi Meyase, has requested the proprietors and collectors of all the three parking zones to attend the programme without fail.
