‘Gangster,’ a Nagamese film portraying a community affected by drug gangs was released at the Eros Cinema Hall in Dimapur on Sunday.

Presented by Pooja Film Production, Gangster is produced and directed by Ajay Kumar. The film has Bishu Sarkar as the main actor, with Inakali Yepthomi playing the role of the leading lady. The director, Ajay Kumar played the role of the most wanted villain. Sarkar has acted in five films so far, including the latest film Gangster, which is a debut for Yepthomi.

The movie revolves around a police establishment and government struggling to control the operations of the seven gangs involved in violence and intimidation. The authorities approach the central government for assistance. Subsequently, the centre sends a CBI official (played by Sarkar) to tackle the state’s epidemic of violence created by the gangs. The CBI official arrives in the city, only to fall in love with a local woman (played by Yepthomi).

However, according to the movie, as the official begins to tackle the gangs, he takes a decision to make the woman stay away from him as he didn’t want to endanger her life. The official begins fighting a lone battle with the gangsters and succeeds in overthrowing them by killing the kingpin (played by Kumar) at the end.

According to Kumar, the film was shot in four locations, including Guwahati, Shillong, Kohima, and Dimapur, with a budget of around INR 5 lakh.

Bendang Jamir, president of the Dimapur District Congress, attended the screening programme as the chief guest.
