FOUR hopefuls are vying for the public’s affection as an online poll opens to decide on a spot at this year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

A competition to award a place on the bill to a band or solo singer has created a shortlist of four: Scottish six-piece indie pop-funk band The 101; four-piece Edinburgh rockers Gypsy Circus; singer-songwriter Alannah Moar; and five-piece alt-rock Perth band Stop The Rain.

A Facebook poll is launching today to allow the public to vote for their favourites, and it will be open until the end of the month. The winner will be announced on June 3.

Acts confirmed for this year’s event, held at the Belladrum Estate near Inverness on August 2-4, include Paloma Faith, Primal Scream, Amy MacDonald, The Charlatans, Professor Green and Rosanne Cash.

The popular festival has been running since 2004 and is an annual sell out.
