Ruben Neves joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2017.
Neves joined Wolves from FC Porto in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Express & Star to be worth £15.8 million.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been superb for Wolves and has established himself as a key figure in manager Nuno’s team.
Former Wolves forward Keane has admitted that he did not realise that Neves is only 21 years of age.
Keane told The Express & Star: “A statement signing will come at some stage,” he said. “But I think, with the players they’ve already brought in, keeping hold of a couple of them will be more important.
“If you look at Reuben Neves, the midfield player, he’s only 21, I didn’t realise he was that young – he looks good, he can pass, he can score goals.
“The key now is to keep those type of players. But if they can get a big name in, in the next year or so, which I’m sure they will, that’d help.”
Impressive form
Neves scored six goals and provided one assist in 42 Championship appearances for Wolves last season, according to WhoScored.
So far this campaign, the Portugal international midfielder has scored one goal and provided one assist in five Premier League matches for Nuno’s side, according to WhoScored.
Wolves are ninth in the Premier League table at the moment with eight points from five matches.
The Wanderers will face Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend.
