In our keiki days, Easter meant bunny-shaped chocolates and running around the yard, filling up our basket with as many colorful plastic eggs as possible. We may have outgrown egg hunts, but we’re never be too old for a great Easter brunch buffet. Gabby Pahinui Waimānalo Kanikapila

Celebrate the legacy of Gabby and Cyril Pahinui with music at the 12th annual kanikapila. Food and educational booths will be at the park, but the best part of this free event—which also honors the birthdays of father Gabby (April 22) and son Cyril (April 21)—is the casual camaraderie of the musicians who join in the old-school jam sessions. Next year, the kanikapila will be renamed after Cyril, who passed away last year.

Island 98.5 Bash Music Festival
Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20
Jam out to the best of Island music at Bash 2019 on the lawn of Bishop Museum with some well-known Hawai‘i-based artists. Sway along to Sons of Zion and Rebel Souljahz on Friday and listen to J-Boog, Maoli and Tarrus Riley on Saturday. With street grindz, a 21-and-older field for those who want to drink, and a family area, there will be fun for the whole ‘ohana.

Bloom: 2019 Garden Festival

Spring is in full bloom at Ward Centre. This Friday and Saturday, the shopping hub celebrates this season with a fun, family-friendly event both adults and kids will enjoy. Keiki activities offered throughout the days include card and lei making, rock painting and an Easter treat hunt; adults can exercise their green thumbs with succulent, lei making and haku wristlet workshops. Plus, have your wallet handy: Eight participating stores will be selling Bloom bags—Fukubukuro-style grab bags filled with surprise discounted merch—at 50 percent off retail value.
