‘Ukulele Picnic in Hawai‘i

Sunday, Feb. 10, 9 a.m. to sunset

The free celebration of our favorite stringed instrument has moved out of Kaka‘ako Waterfront Park this year. Watch the best ‘ukulele virtuosos from Japan and Hawai‘i (including Island favorites Josh Tatofi, Herb Ohta Jr.—the son of ‘ukulele master Ohta-san—and Japan’s Seiji Katz) strum all day at ‘Ukulele Picnic in Hawai‘i, now taking place in Honolulu’s newest open-air garden, Victoria Ward Park. Since the new site is right in Ward Village, you can wander away to grab a bite or do some shopping in between sets.

Free, Victoria Ward Park, 980 Auahi St. For more information, go here.

Breakout & Seek

Saturday, Feb. 9, at 10:30 a.m.

The team behind Hawai‘i’s super popular (and super stressful) escape game brings you a new brain-busting race against time. Breakout & Seek is a scavenger-style hunt that takes teams on an adventure through Waikīkī as they hunt for clues and solve puzzles to reach the finish. Teamwork, creativity and problem solving are essential to a successful race, and the first, second and third teams to finish will receive special prizes, including the chance to beta-test Breakout Waikīkī’s new escape rooms opening next month.

$10 per person, Epic Aloha, 2005 Kālia Road. For more information and to purchase tickets, go here.

My Favorite Murder Live

Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.

Murder and comedy don’t usually go together, unless you’re a murderino (as fans call themselves) anticipating the live performance of the popular My Favorite Murder podcast. Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark talk about horrible cases in their signature offbeat and somehow empowering way. Expect some of Hawai‘i’s own cases to get top billing. Pay extra for a special meet-and-greet session with the hosts.

$39.50–$184.50, Blaisdell Concert Hall, 777 Ward Ave. For more information and to purchase tickets, go here.
