Hawai‘i Beer Fest: Winter Edition

Saturday, Jan. 26, 6 to 9 p.m., VIP entry at 5 p.m.

More than 100 beers were available at the inaugural Hawai‘i Beer Fest last June, and if you didn’t get to try as many as you wanted, good news: There’s now a winter edition, presented by ‘Ohana Broadcast Co. and Kurious Productions, which will feature exclusive and limited releases, as well as some beers that are new to Hawai‘i. One ticket gets you a glass that can be filled with brews from Honolulu Beerworks, Inu Island Ales, Kawaba, 10 Barrell, Saint Archer Brewing, Oktoberfest-Spaten Franziskaner Brau as well as ciders, Spiked Seltzer and a spiked tea. We recommend making a plan of attack before you start drinking and dumping any you don’t like so you have more room for those you do. Absorb some of that alcohol with food from ‘Ahi Assassins, Brick Fire Tavern, Taqueria El Ranchero, Thai Food Olay’s and This Lil Piggy. And if you’re feeling the urge to dance, radio DJs will be there spinning. Needless to say, this event is only for those 21 and older, and you should make sure you have a safe ride home (Lyft offers a discount with code “HAWAIIBEERFEST” for newbies and “HAWAIIBEERFEST19” for existing users). A portion of proceeds benefit the Rotary Club of Honolulu.

Get ready to dance “All Night Long” with Lionel Richie as the Grammy Award-winning artist appears in his first show in Honolulu in 10 years. The iconic artist, who became a household name in the ’80s, has had a lasting career with hits including “Endless Love” and “Easy.” The concert, “Lionel Richie: All The Hits,” will undoubtedly leave fans dancing on the ceiling.

Mokulē‘ia Army Beach Cleanup

Saturday, Jan. 26, 9 to 11 a.m.

Start your year off with a good deed by helping to clean up Mokulē‘ia Beach with Keiki O Ka ‘Āina. Bring your reusable water bottle, reef-safe sunscreen and cleanup supplies (the group will provide some if needed) and don’t forget your bathing suit in case you want to take a dip after the work is done.

You don’t need a football game to hear the rousing music of Five-O this month. The Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra tackles signature theme songs from TV shows and movies filmed in the Islands. So, get ready for the sweeping theme from Jurassic Park, mysterious melodies from Lost, whimsical sounds of Hook and other moments from the big and small screen.
