It’s time once again to celebrate local and international culture at the 40th annual Pan-Pacific Festival. The longstanding event brings people together with the hope of creating a more global community through the sharing and celebrating of cultures. Free events and performances showcase about 100 groups and organizations from around the world. King Kamehameha Floral Parade
Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m.
Watch marching bands, extravagant floats and pā‘ū riders lushly decorated with flowers and lei make their way from ‘Iolani Palace along portions of Punchbowl Street, Ala Moana Boulevard and Kalākaua and Monsarrat avenues before ending at Kapiʻolani Park at 11 a.m. Then head to Aloha Tower for the King Kamehameha Celebration Ho‘olaule‘a featuring hula performances, live entertainment, made-in-Hawai‘i products and food booths from 4 to 10 p.m.

Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness

Known as the primary lyricist for Jack’s Mannequin and Something Corporate, pianist and performer Andrew McMahon has made a name for himself in the indie rock and pop punk industry. A leukemia survivor, McMahon created nonprofits to benefit cancer research. The music on his new album, Upside Down Flowers, is loaded with nostalgia. Keep your childhood best friend on speed dial as McMahon reminds you what it means to grow up.

Act II: A Fashion Reprise

Fashionistas, mark your calendars: Hawai‘i Opera Theatre’s annual secondhand shop-a-thon returns this weekend. Act II: A Fashion Reprise is your chance to shop designer clothing, accessories, jewelry, art and more, all donated by HOT’s generous supporters and some of which are still brand new and never worn. For first dibs on the collection, attend the VIP preview party on Thursday, June 6—tickets are $50 per person and include pūpū, wine and discount coupons.

First Friday at HiSAM
Friday, June 7, 6 to 9 p.m.
Hawai‘i State Art Museum kicks off summer with a special First Friday for the keiki. Catch a fashion show by local kids clothing brand Love + Monsters at 7:30 p.m. on the museum’s front lawn, plus clay demos and art workshops by Art Explorium, Luke DeKneef and art collective Super Awesome Art Squad (stop by the HiSAM Museum Gallery Shop x Mori By Art + Flea to check out the group’s new Birthday Party show debuting that same night). Enjoy music by Shing02, DJ Tittahbyte, Pow Wow School of Music and many more throughout the evening.
