Honolulu City Lights Opening Night

Saturday, Dec. 1, 4:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The island’s beloved holiday tradition kicks off its monthlong schedule of festivities this Saturday with keiki rides and souvenir and food booths open from 4 p.m. Mayor Kirk Caldwell leads the tree lighting ceremony at 6, followed by the Public Workers’ Electric Light Parade, a procession of brightly decorated vehicles and school marching bands, which will make its way down King Street from Chinatown. Live performances by local artists, which include multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Nathan Aweau and ‘uke master Taimane Gardner, will take place throughout the evening.

A Pinch of Salt

Saturday, Dec. 1, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With Christmas season in full swing, it’s time to get a crack on that holiday shopping. Head to Salt at Our Kaka‘ako for the annual A Pinch of Salt, the ultimate shop-small event featuring unique made-in-Hawai‘i items by some of the Islands’ favorite designers. Bring your wallet, reusable totes and your pup (pets are welcome!) and prepare for a day of super productive shopping.

Named one of Rolling Stone’s best stand-up comics of all time, Tig Notaro has earned Grammy and Emmy noms for her comedy, written a best-selling memoir, and co-wrote, produced and starred in the Amazon Video series One Mississippi. Catch her one-night-only show, and her signature deadpan humor, this Friday.

All Time Low

Saturday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m.

Formed in 2003 as a high school band covering pop-punk songs, the four-man American rock group All Time Low has since headlined numerous tours, performed at several music festivals and released seven studio albums. The band hits Honolulu this Saturday to perform tracks off its latest album, Last Young Renegade, including other popular tracks such as “Dear Maria, Count Me In” and “Weightless,” at The Republik.
