LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) - Members of the Arkansas 4-H Youth Development program joined together for 4-H Day at the Capitol.

Kathryn Davis, a senior student in Craighead County and member of the 4-H program, said it’s important for students to be able to see how the government works and learn in their own way.

The 4-H program teaches students valuable life skills and on Tuesday, they gathered to learn about state government.

Lance Blythe, Greene County 4-H agent University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, said the 4-H Day at the Capitol is about learning how our state works.

“It’s the state legislature,” Blythe said. "It’s where laws are made, big decisions that affect everybody in the state are made.”

Students from Batesville, Craighead County, and Greene County were just some of the students touring the Capitol Rotunda today and attending legislative meetings.

Nathan Reinhart, CEA Staff Chair for Independence County, said the goal was also to teach legislators about the importance of 4-H, agriculture, and life experience learning through 4-H.
