The Jackson County, Kansas Sheriff's Office says a man who fled after a courthouse incident Thursday has been found.
Matthew John Shipley, 33 of Topeka, reportedly fled on foot after an incident at the Jackson County Courthouse. He was later spotted on the southern side of Holton.
The Sheriff's Office put out an alert Thursday asking for citizens to lock their vehicles and their homes. While Shipley was not known to be violent, authorities said he is believed to be homeless and may have been looking for an outbuilding, vehicle, or home to enter to stay warm.
Shipley is also a reported parole absconder with the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Authorities said Shipley was found late Thursday afternoon in a field south of Baileyville. He was taken into custody.
