A second Kansas City man has been charged with firing shots at a police officer on March 6 in the 2500 block of Chelsea Avenue.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Monday that Shawn M. Brown, 27, faces charges of assault in the first degree, as well as three counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. Dane A. Hill, 26, was also charged with assault, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and three counts of armed criminal action in connection the case.
According to court documents, Kansas City police were watching a house in the 2500 block of Chelsea Avenue, when a vehicle slowed in front and a passenger in the vehicle fired a shot at the home. The vehicle fled, and police pursued, court records said.
During the pursuit, a man leaned out the window and fired multiple shots at an undercover officer's unmarked vehicle, court records said.
Prosecutors requested a bond of $150,000 for Brown.

Dane A. Hill, 26, was charged with assault, unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and three counts of armed criminal action.
According to court documents, Kansas City police were watching a house in the 2500 block of Chelsea Avenue on Tuesday morning, when a vehicle slowed in front and a passenger in the vehicle fired a shot at the home. The vehicle fled and police pursued.
During the pursuit, a man leaned out the window and fired multiple shots at an undercover officer's unmarked vehicle, court records said.
The suspect vehicle crashed in the 2500 block of Brighton Avenue. Two men were taken into custody after police searched the area.
A witness told police that Hill was the person who fired shots from the vehicle. During police questioning, Hill told police he was in the vehicle and fired at the house on Chelsea Avenue, according to court records.
Prosecutors have requested $300,000 bail.
A second suspect was arrested, and the case remains under investigation.
