Halloween spirit coming to Benzie County

BENZIE COUNTY -- Halloween will be here soon, and there are a variety of events for kids and adults alike coming to Benzie.

Hotel Frankfort

Hotel Frankfort will be hosting a murder mystery dinner, Murder at the Four Deuces starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the hotel in downtown Frankfort.

This interactive event will take participants back to the height of the prohibition in 1924 and the days of the speakeasy and mob turf wars.

In this scenario, the South Side gangsters of Elberta are North side mob of Frankfort are at each other's throat when Don Wannabe, "The Gentleman" and his wife, MeMe are hosting a huge party at their speakeasy, The Four Deuces, in order to put an end to the conflict.

Tickets are $50 per person, which covers the cost of the meal and non-alcoholic beverages.

Costumes are encouraged.

Frankfort Trunk or Treat

The Frankfort Elberta Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Trunk or Treat on Halloween night from 5-8 p.m. on Main Street.

Those who want to hand out treats, but don't have a home where trick-or-treaters visit, or who want to hand out candy downtown are invited to come and join in on the Halloween fun.

Back cars into available parking spaces between Third and Sixth streets.

Decorated cars and costumes are encouraged.

Thompsonville

Thompsonville will be hosting the Thompsonville Fall Festival from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Thompsonville Fire Hall and Community Center.

Visitors can enjoy free hot dogs, cider and doughnuts.

Activities include live music, a bounce house, Funny the Clown, carriage rides, a photo booth and reading sessions with therapy dogs Chaz and Denny.

Visitors also an build their own scarecrow and children can pick out a free pumpkin to take home.

There also will be the Annual Old Fashioned Pie Auction and Bake Sale for the Betsie Valley District Library.

Visitors can attend in their Halloween costume.

Beulah

Trick or treating in Beulah will be from 5-7 p.m. at downtown businesses.

Children can also brave the Haunted Bus and Haunted Beulah Trailhead.

Inland Township

There will be a Trunk or Treat at the Inland Township Fire Station from 5 to 8 a.m. on Halloween night.

A hot dog dinner will also be provided.

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

St. Andrews will be hosting their Trunk or Treat from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, at St. Andrews, located at 8190 Lincoln Road, Beulah.

Children will be able to "trick or treat" in the parking lot of the church. Costumes are encouraged.

There will be a free hot dog dinner in the church.

Halloween parties for adults

Area bars will soon be hosting Halloween parties across Benzie, and the Benzie Bus will be offering free shuttles from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday to help keep people celebrating Halloween safe.

Rides will be door to door, from home to the rider's bar of choice during area establishments' Halloween celebrations. Rides must be reserved in advance.

This service is offered courtesy of a partnership between the Benzie Bus and area bars, breweries and restaurants.
