Hereford at Estacado

The Matadors will try to get revenge at home against the Whitefaces in their homecoming game after last year’s 35-27 loss that spoiled an otherwise perfect regular season. Estacado’s team reputation is on the rise after back-to-back wins against Pampa and Amarillo Caprock. The squad has 12 votes in the Associated Press poll, effectively making it the 12th-place team. This game will bring back memories for running back Seth Porter, who scored his first touchdown last week after tearing an ACL last year at Hereford.

Coronado at Clovis (N.M.)

The Mustangs got back to their winning ways last week and will be on the road a second straight week to play Clovis, which lost to Monterey last week in Lubbock. Part of the border crossing experience is Coronado will have to play by national high school football federation rules rather than UIL rules, which resemble NCAA rules.

Pampa at Levelland

Levelland is trying to get back on track after two losses on the heels of an impressive win against Plainview from Class 5A Division II. Pampa comes to town this week a game removed from facing key Lobos District 2-4A Division II rival Estacado, so this could be a good barometer game.

Floydada at Amarillo River Road

The Whirlwinds have been on fire the past three weeks toward a 3-0 record and River Road has been anything but toward an 0-3 mark. However, the Wildcats from Class 3A Division I have faced stout competition in Abernathy, Canadian and Dalhart ahead of their first meeting of the season against a Class 2A Division I foe. Floydada is led by defensive end and fullback Jose Lira, who enters the meeting with six tackles for loss on a defense with 11 takeaways.

Strawn vs. Borden County
