CAMPBELL — Investigators are working to find the cause of a two-alarm fire that displaced at least four families from an apartment building, authorities said.

At 5:05 p.m., fire crews responded to reports of fire at a multi-unit complex in the 1300 block of West Campbell Avenue, and arrived to find smoke and flames from the first floor of one unit and heading into a second-floor unit.

After calling a second unit, firefighters searched all units and confirmed all residents had evacuated before managing to bring the fire under control within fifteen minutes.

San Jose Fire Department crews also assisted in the response, and assisted with mop-up efforts. Red Cross Bay Area representatives were providing assistance to the building’s displaced residents.

Staff writer George Kelly contributed to this report.
