JOHN CURTIS SLAGLE

 

John Curtis Slagle, 51, of Troy, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Atrium Health Stanly.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Bumgarner Family Funeral Service Chapel in Troy, officiated by the Rev. Bob McCormick and Dr. Neal Jackson. Burial followed at Southside Cemetery.

Born December 11, 1967 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Crawford English Slagle Sr. and Dorothy Curtis Slagle. He was a life-long member of Troy Church of Christ. He loved God, his church people and Scooby Doo. He was a very special, caring and loving person. He loved to sing gospel music, give hugs and shake hands. He also had a saying which he loved, “Hey How You,” and enjoyed going to the front of the church and preaching like his father and brother. He always enjoyed participating in the Special Olympics.

He is survived by sister-in-law and honorary mother, Judy Slagle of the home; nieces, Stacy and Joey Garner of Seagrove, Diane Slagle of Mt. Gilead and Joann Hilliard of Troy, Cynthia and Crystal Minton; three great-nieces, Josie Garner, Leah Hilliard and Kayla D. and Angel Sanchez; great-nephew, Jonathan Saunders and wife Ashley; and two great-great-nieces, Ellianna and Novaleigh. He was preceded in death by brother, Crawford E. Slagle Jr., and sister, Elizabeth Fink.

Memorials may be made to a charity in support of Down Syndrome.
