The work and fundraising of Montgomeryshire Motor Neurone Disease Association volunteers has been highlighted by local MP, Glyn Davies.

Mr Davies, MP for Montgomeryshire, recently joined local MNDA committee members and fundraisers at Morrison’s supermarket in Newtown.

Glyn, who has been President of the Montgomeryshire MNDA for many years, joined members of the branch at their highly successful fundraising pitch, which raised £317.51.

Commenting on the success of the fundraising event, Mr Davies said: “The local Motor Neurone Disease Association does a brilliant job, raising large sums of money to help discover treatments to control, and hopefully eventually develop a cure for this terrible disease.

"It was a pleasure and privilege to join these great campaigners in their latest efforts, raising over £300.

“For many years I’ve been involved in supporting the work of campaigners for several neurological conditions.

"I never fail to be impressed by the dedication they show in their support for people with the condition. It’s especially poignant at present for rugby enthusiasts, who are so inspired by the great Scottish and Lions Second Row, Doddie Weir.

“I’m always impressed by the generosity of Montgomeryshire people as they donate to causes to help those with the range of neurological conditions. Montgomeryshire has always been a generous county.”
