Christmas Carol lovers are being encouraged to make their way to Welshpool Livestock Market in an agricultural start to the festive season on Sunday.

The market’s livestock ring will play host to a carol concert organised by Montgomeryshire’s Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) volunteers. RABI is a national charity who support farming families in times of financial difficulty.

Farmers and members of the local community are invited to come together to celebrate Christmas and recognise the work of the charity across Wales.

The concert will feature a number of talented local artistes, including the Welshpool High School Band, male voice choir Only Trefeg Aloud, Pedwarawd Penllan plus members of Llidiartywaen and Dyffryn Tanat Young Farmers Clubs.

There will also be the chance for the community to join together and sing a selection of carols.

The event takes place on at 6pm with no admission charge at the concert, but donations will be collected.

Montgomeryshire county chairman Gwyn Morris, said: “Our Christmas concert at Welshpool is always a lovely event and we would like to thank Welshpool Livestock Sales for allowing us once again to host this concert at their premises. Farming is a vital industry, but farmers can get into difficulties through no fault of their own.”

Becky Davies, regional manager for RABI, commented: “Holding a carol concert in the auction mart is a great way of bringing Christmas to the rural community. There is a wonderful atmosphere and the acoustics are amazing for singing carols. As well as celebrating Christmas, it is a great opportunity to raise awareness about the work of the charity.”

Everyone is very welcome to the carol concert, but if you would like more information about the service, or the work of RABI, contact Becky on 07730 765 377 or becky.davies@rabi.org.uk.
