Tourism and Hospitality Management department of Daffodil International University celebrated its 5th founding anniversary on Wednesday with colourful events on its campus.
DIU vice-chancellor Professor Yousuf M Islam attended the programme through video conference from China.
The events included cake cutting, discussions and cultural programme, said a press release.
DIU acting vice-chancellor Professor S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, registrar Professor A K M Fazlul Hoque, controller of examinations Professor Md Golam Mowla Choudhury, Business and Entrepreneurship Faculty dean Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Tourism and Hospitality Management department head Mahbub Parvez and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation chairman Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir were present, among others, during the programmes.
Speakers at the programmes said that tourism and hospitality management was a thrust and rapidly growing sector in Bangladesh. Lots of skilled people would be needed in this sector to flourish it but the number of skilled manpower was very limited as per requirement.
