Koelling Family Chiropractic, which has been in operation in Fulton for 20 years, recently opened a second location in Jefferson City.
The new location, at 3702 W. Truman Blvd, was opened in order to serve customers in the area who had previously been driving to Fulton, owner and chiropractor Dr. Bryce Koelling said.
"We just felt it was time that we had a location closer to a large group of our patients because the Gonstead practice of chiropractic - we brought that to Mid-Missouri 20 years ago - and that particular type of chiropractic is unique and helps a lot of people," Koelling said.
Koelling Family Chiropractic offers a type of chiropractic called Gonstead, which focuses more on traditional methods, Koelling said. Instead of including practices like massage and acupuncture, Gonstead chiropractic methods focus on the spinal discs and nerves to solve issues.
Koelling said they have used their Gonstead methods on patients of all ages, even down to newborns and as old as those in their 90s. Chiropractic adjustments, done with the chiropractor's pinkie fingers, can also help issues such as ear infections or colic in babies, he said.
Part of the appeal of the new location, he said, is a welcoming environment, so patients feel less like they are in a medical office and more like they're in someone's living room.
Koelling said as part of the business expansion, they will be hiring more chiropractors to treat more patients. Since they opened 20 years ago, they have seen more than 10,000 people.
Patient records from the Fulton location were transferred to the Jefferson City office to allow local patients an easy transition.
While the office has been open for about three weeks, a grand opening and open house will be Saturday. Koelling said he will also be offering free consultations.
