One person is dead and another was wounded in two separate shootings in Jefferson City.

Police report a 19-year-old man from Jefferson City was found dead from a single gunshot wound about 6 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Stadium Boulevard. Police identified the homicide victim as Nilez R. Nichols.

Witnesses at the scene described three black males fleeing the scene immediately after the shots were fired.

As of Tuesday morning, there were no descriptions of the suspects, and the search for the three men was continuing.

The second shooting occurred around 2:53 a.m. in the 500 block of East Elm Street where a 20-year-old woman was shot in her right shoulder.

She was taken to Capital Region Medical Center and later transferred to the University of Missouri Hospital for treatment.

Authorities believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, and they arrested a suspect, Quency Floyd, 21, of Jefferson City, for first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police said the shootings are not related to each other.
