Jefferson City man gets shock detention in weapons case

A Jefferson City man has been ordered to complete a 120-day shock detention sentence for shooting at a vehicle in October.

Robert Troester Jr., 40, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree property damage and armed criminal action during a hearing before Cole County Presiding Judge Patricia Joyce.

The shooting occurred in the 700 block of Ohio Street, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Witnesses told police Troester had driven up and told those outside to go back into their homes.

One witness said Troester had a shotgun in his vehicle and he shot a vehicle. Troester had an unknown dispute with one of the residents in the area where the shooting occurred, according to the statement.
