Jefferson City reviews monthly tax revenue

The Jefferson City Finance Committee on Thursday reviewed its tax revenue for January through March quarterly and April reporting periods.

The city's 1 percent sales tax generated $1,126,221 January through March quarterly and April - $36,144 above projections.

The half-percent capital improvement tax generated $554,062 January through March quarterly and April - $85,871 above projections.

The half-percent parks sales tax brought in $554,065 January through March quarterly and April - $62,464 above projections.

The city collected $131,434 in lodging tax in April. Since voters approved the lodging tax increase in 2011, the 7-cent lodging tax has accumulated more than $9.2 million. The 4-cent tourism fund has nearly $5.4 million.

Jefferson City's hotel occupancy for April increased compared to the same time last year - 63.1 percent versus 61.7 percent.
