Two Jefferson City men have been charged in connection with a Wednesday morning shooting in the Capital City.

Najee Jones, 27, is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon. Rimolli Wease, 48, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree assault.

According to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements, the incident occurred in the 200 block of West Dunklin Street.

Jones alleged he and Wease have an ongoing feud over a 2105 case where Weases was accused of molesting a member of Jones' family. An argument between Wease and Jones quickly escalated Wednesday, according to the probable cause statement. Wease then approached Jones, armed with a metal billy club. After another verbal exchange, Wease got into his vehicle, made a U-turn and accelerated toward Jones who was still in the street. Jones then discharged a firearm at Wease's moving vehicle, striking it twice.

Jones allegedly admitted to firing three shots at Wease's vehicle. He claimed he was in fear for his life when Wease allegedly drove toward him.

When questioned by authorities, Wease admitted to confronting Jones after seeing him on the street and that he got out of his vehicle, armed with a metal club, before approaching Jones. Wease also claimed Jones told him, "I've got something that will put you 6 feet under." Wease said he accelerated toward Jones, but he had no intention of striking him or running him over.
