Dispositions in Pike County Court

Christopher Gordon McLaughlin, 50, of Port Jervis, N.Y., was sentenced to 12 months to 36 months in a state correctional facility and fined $500 for the crime of Delivery of a Controlled or Counterfeit Substance. McLaughlin sold suboxone to a confidential informant on Nov. 30, 2018, in Matamoras Borough.

Steven Michael Young, 38, of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., was sentenced to 36 months to 6 years in a state correctional facility, fined $3,000, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Trial or Punishment. The state police attempted to pull over Young for traveling too closely along I-84 in Palmyra Township on June 15, 2018. Young failed to yield, traveling at speeds up to 115 mph. Young exited the interstate, eluding the state police, and was later located and identified through his vehicle registration.

William Bryan Posner, 33, of Lords Valley, Pa., was sentenced to 11 months to 23 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,300, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Simple Assault, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest. On April 24, 2018, at a residence in Blooming Grove Township, Posner struck an individual during a domestic dispute, causing injury. When the state police encountered Posner, he fled the scene in his vehicle. On May 24, 2018, the state police responded to a residence in Blooming Grove Township to conduct a mental health check on Posner. Posner was found in possession of synthetic marijuana. When the trooper attempted to place Posner under arrest, Posner resisted, requiring substantial force to subdue him.

Mark A. Kovaleski, 59, of Bethlehem, Pa., was sentenced to 24 days to 6 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $300 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police observed Kovaleski swerving his vehicle along SR 590 in Lackawaxen Township on March 31, 2018. Upon speaking with Kovaleski, the trooper observed him to have red, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and emitting the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Kovaleski admitted to drinking prior to driving. Kovaleski was incapable of performing a field sobriety test. A preliminary breath test detected the presence of alcohol. Kovaleski refused a chemical breath test.

Phillip M. Freiler, 39, of Roslyn, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police stopped Freiler for speeding along SR 507 in Greene Township on Oct. 21, 2018. When contact was made with Freiler, he was observed to have slurred speech and red, glossy, bloodshot eyes. Freiler admitted to drinking prior to driving. Field sobriety tests showed impairment, and a blood test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.240 percent.

Sandra M. Newsome, 44, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had her driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. Newsome was pulled over by the Eastern Pike Regional Police for an expired inspection sticker during a DUI checkpoint conducted along Routes 6 and 209 in Westfall Township on Sept. 22, 2018. Upon speaking with Newsome, the officer detected the smell of marijuana. Newsome admitted to smoking marijuana prior to the stop. Field sobriety tests showed impairment and a blood test confirmed the presence of THC, Citalopram, and Trazodone.

Alexandru Desideriu Irinyi, 49, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police encountered Irinyi asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle in a business parking lot after business hours on Nov. 11, 2018. When Irinyi was roused, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed him to have bloodshot eyes and be unsteady on his feet.

William David Poltersdorf, 31, of Milford, Pa., was sentenced to 30 days to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $750, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. Poltersdorf crashed into another vehicle along Routes 6 and 209 in Westfall Township on Feb. 3, 2019, and failed to stop after the accident occurred. Poltersdorf was tracked down by the state police after his abandoned vehicle was found at the intersection of 6 and 209 and Roberts Lane. Poltersdorf was observed to have red, glossy eyes and emanating the odor of an alcoholic beverage. Plotersdorf admitted to drinking prior to driving. Field sobriety tests showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.156 percent.

Randy Gil Moore, 60, of Clearfield, Pa., was sentenced to 30 days to 6 months and 90 days in the Pike County Jail, fined $2,500, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and Operating Without Ignition Interlock System. Moore was stopped by the state police on Jan. 1, 2019, for speeding along I-84 in Palmyra Township. When contact was made with Moore, he was observed to have red, bloodshot and glassy eyes and was emanating the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Field sobriety tests showed impairment. Moore refused to submit to a blood test. Moore was found to be driving without the interlock system as required by court order.

Timothy Ross Keller, 23, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. Keller was observed by the state police speeding and driving erratically along SR 739 and Doolan Road in Delaware Township on Aug. 4, 2018. When contact was made with Keller, he relayed that he had been drinking prior to driving. The trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage while speaking with Keller. Field sobriety tests showed impairment and a blood test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.172 percent.
