Providence---Oct. 17, 2016--- South Street Landing, old power plant under construction along the Providence River. The building houses the Rhode Island Nursing Education Center (where Rhode Island College and University of Rhode Island will share facilities), and the project will include a 270-bed graduate and medical student housing complex. PROVIDENCE, RI -- 1972 -- Hospital Trust Building -- View from Prospect Terrace of downtown Providence showing the Hospital Trust tower in the process of construction. Now named One Financial Plaza, but also known as the Sovereign Bank Tower, it stands with 30 floors as the second-tallest building in Providence, the Bank of America (originally Industrial National Bank) next door is the highest. Nordstrom Scaffolding and tarps are being taken off the north end of Providence Place mall along Francis St. in the late 1990's. The north half of the building had been wrapped in plastic to protect masons finishing the brickwork.

Providence College has a new Science Complex. The 37,000 square foot addition connects to PC´s existing science buildings (Hickey Hall, Sowa Hall and Albertus Magnus Hall).

A construction worker looks down as building materials are delivered by craned to where they are needed at the construction side of the Homewood Suites by Hilton on Exchange Street. The crane at center is further away and is part of the construction of Edge College Hill student apartments.

2/1/1928 - INDUSTRIAL TRUST BUILDING -- View from above Benefit Street of the Industrial Trust Tower under construction in 1928. Now known as 111 Westminster Street or formerly Bank of America building, it has been called locally as the Superman Building due to its resemblance to the "Daily Planet" building used in the Superman TV series of a million years ago. The building was built as the Industrial Trust Tower in 1927 and designed in the Art Deco style popular at the time. Building now stands vacant. [Providence Journal file photo]
