Colorado added 58 jobs in the solar industry between 2017 and 2018 and stands at No. 8 in the nation for solar jobs per capita, according to the latest National Solar Jobs Census.

The report from the Solar Foundation found that solar jobs grew 1 percent in Colorado, to 6,847 in 2018, at a time when jobs in the industry shrank by 3 percent nationwide. Last year, 242,343 people had jobs in solar-related businesses.

Twenty-nine states saw growth in jobs in the solar industry, with Florida, Illinois, Texas and New York among the states with the biggest gains.

The report blamed last year’s nationwide decrease in part on solar companies’ delaying utility-scale projects in late 2017 in the hopes of new tariffs on solar panels and cells.
