FITCHBURG — Two suspects wanted on warrants were taken into custody in Westminster after a brief police chase, said a Police Department spokesman.

Both were taken to Fitchburg to appear in court on Thursday.

Kaesuan Y. Portlock, 20, of 22 Portland St., was wanted when he failed to appear after posting a $300 cash bail in June after being arrested on several weapon-related charges.

He was supposed to appear in District Court on June 17 after his arrest on June 15.

The charges were a result of police finding a black handgun where Portlock was sitting in a vehicle when it was stopped for a traffic violation, according to a police report of the stop.

Portlock was taken into custody without incident, but a mask was found in the vehicle’s trunk that matched the description of one used in a “possible recent incident.”

Officers also noted in the report that the handgun, a black Ruger .338 that had its serial numbers removed – also known as a “ghost gun” — and had supposedly been used by Portlock to threaten a woman in an unrelated case.

As a result of the incident, Portlock was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, defacing a firearm, and carrying a firearm without a license.

Police also placed into custody after the brief pursuit Stephanie L. Westover, 32, of 512 Main St., Leominster.

She was charged in March with vandalizing property, breaking and entering for misdemeanor and larceny under $1,200 for the allegedly breaking into a car at the Market Basket parking lot on Water Street and stealing a wallet that contained cash, according to court documents.

The status of that case is unknown.

However, the Sentinel & Enterprise has learned that Westover had a straight warrant for her arrest on several weapon-related charges that were to be heard in District Court on Thursday.
