FITCHBURG — Fitchburg State University’s Brian McGrath has been named the MASCAC Ice Hockey Goaltender Of The Week.

The junior netminder collects his second weekly honor of the season after stopping 72 of the 73 shots he faced with a .983 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average in two contests last week for the Falcons.

McGrath made 32 saves in a 2-1 overtime triumph over UMass Dartmouth on Thursday evening before earning a shutout on Saturday evening, stopping all 40 shots he faced in a 1-0 victory against Worcester State.

The Fitchburg State men’s hockey team (6-2-1, 4-1-1  MASCAC) returns to action after the winter break, next facing Wesleyan University on Jan. 3 in opening round action of the 55th annual Codfish Bowl, hosted by UMass Boston, starting at 4 p.m.
