FITCHBURG — Newcomers to the city will soon receive a thorough introduction to all the amenities their new home has to offer.
The “Welcome Kit,” which has been developed by the city’s Community Development Office, includes a letter from Mayor Stephen DiNatale, contact information for city offices, information about the Public Library and Senior Center, fact sheets regarding trash, recycling, and other services, guides for the city’s many attractions, recreational opportunities, dining options, and more.
Community Development staff are working with realtors and first-time homebuyer classes, like those offered through NewVue Communities, to get the kits into the hands of potential buyers and new homeowners.
“The information in these welcome kits illustrates what an interesting community Fitchburg is, and all that the City has to offer its residents,” said Tom Skwierawski, executive director of Community Development.
“It’s our hope that the kits will help new residents feel at home, and that prospective residents will see the variety of services, businesses, and activity that make Fitchburg vibrant.”
The welcome kits are also available through the Community Development Office and online at www.fitchburgma.gov/830/Welcome-Kit. Retail, Dining, Events and Attractions guides from the kit will be available to the general public in a number of public locations over the summer.
A version of the welcome kits will soon be available for prospective and new businesses, highlighting information around permitting, local events, and services that provide small business support.
