Fitchburg man accidentally strikes man who jumped from overpass

MANCHESTER, N.H. — A Fitchburg man was one of two drivers that accidentally stuck a man who reportedly jumped off an overpass fence above I-293 in Manchester on Monday, State Police said in a press release.

When the victim jumped from just below the South Willow Street overpass he landed on the windshield of truck being driven by Brad Desrochers, 38 before being struck by the car following behind that was driven by 49-year-old Cheryl Fuentes of Derry. The drivers were traveling southbound on I-293, according to the press release.

The 44-year-old victim, Richard Newton, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The drivers did not sustain any injuries as a result of the accident.
